OPI was used on nails for the Jason Wu and Rebecca Taylor fall/winter shows at St. John’s Center Studios and Lincoln Center! For Jason Wu, models’ nails were painted with taupe hue, San Tan-tonio. The noticeable neutral complimented clothes in taupe, black and gold with pops of fuchsia and red.

Meanwhile, Road House Blues, a purple-y navy, was painted on models’ nails for Rebecca Taylor to compliment the collection’s dark colors and floral prints.

Rusk

I’ve been a fan of Rusk professional hair care line for years, so I was excited to see them at the show.  They had their regular product line up and were also there to present the new Being Sexy line up, set to be releasing during Mary/ June 2012.  Sadly, I missed Nancy “the queen of great hair” O’Donnell yesterday signing autographs.  She’s so awesome…and that hair…

I bought a 1 ½” marcel curling iron from Hot Tools.  They didn’t have their steam rollers on hand, but I’ve been told that girls love them and naturals seem to love them too.

Time flew!  It was only in October that this was just a rumored collection making its waves across the ‘net, and now it’s finally here.  The 6-piece limited edition Nicki Minaj by OPI might be one of the most anticipated polish collections we’ve ever seen, and I’m sure it’s only a sign of things to come when it comes to celebrity ventures.  I almost feel that I’ve had such high expectations for this collection that it would be nearly impossible for them to be reach.  But it came pretty darn close. The formulas were great (for the most part) but a couple colors fell short.  I think this collection could have been done a tad early in Nicki’s career considering she’s releasing a second album that’s slated to be released mid to late Spring.  A lot of the names are plays off her first album “Pink Friday”.

Fly – an aquatic turquoise green that wears like a crème but have characteristics of a jelly

Metallic For Life – jelly black base with small and large silver hex glitter.  It took 3 coats because of the jelly base but the color is gorgeous.  Your best bet is to use a thin coat of crème black before applying this color.

Pink Friday – bubblegum pink crème.  The pigmentation was great but the formula was applying evenly and it required 3 coats.

Save Me – clear base packed with small tarnished sliver glitter and blue, pink, and aqua green holographic bar glitter.  The idea was there.  We can tell from the promo photos that was released that the concept was truly there but it fell short.  I initially thought I could wear this one alone but I’ll have to pair it with other colors.

Did It on Em – crème chartreuse with yellow tones.  If you missed OPI Shrek Forever After Collection a couple years back you’ll want to grab this one, but if you already have it you may want to save you coins.

Super Bass Shatter – deep shimmer violet shatter.  Apply shatters over dry nail color in one coat, using one stroke.

Available:  These are popping up (and going fast) at Ulta right now!  Also try Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, and Trade Secret.

OPI Divine Swine

OPI Divine Swine

Divine Swine:  Clear base with pink toned purple glitter and large silver hex glitter.  The formulas for the glitters in this collection were all over the place…some only requiring 2 coats and others 3.  3 coats.

OPI Excuse Moi

OPI Excuse Moi

Excuse Moi!:  Jelly pink base with silver micro glitter, pink shimmer, and small multi hued hex glitter (following the same color trend as “Rainbow Connection”).  I love this color! It’s fun without being juvenile (as some pink glitters can come off when you’re my age).  2 coats.

Getting Miss Piggy with It:  Clear base with red glitter with large silver hex glitter.  2 coats.

OPI Rainbow Connection

OPI Rainbow Connection

Rainbow Connection:  Clear base with small green, orange, red, blue, silver, yellow and pink hex glitter and large hex glitter of the same hues.  Perfect dupe for “Rainbow in the S-Kylie” from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection)…or is it the other way around.  Who know?  2 coats.

OPI Warm and Fozzie

OPI Warm and Fozzie

Warm & Fozzie:  Brown copper base with gold micro shimmer with flecks of pink and purple.  This color….man….simply gorgeous.  It reminded me of why we love OPI so much…it’s because of colors like this.  The formula could have been more pigmented but it was smooth and easy to apply.  3 coats.

OPI Designer de Better

OPI Designer de Better

Designer…de Better:  Pale foil taupe with copper micro shimmer.  My camera didn’t do this color any justice…not a single bit.  It’s stunnig and I can’t wait to wear it to my BFF’s wedding.  3 coats.

OPI Pepes Purple Passion

OPI Pepes Purple Passion

Pepe’s Purple Passion:  Warm plum purple jelly base with pink/ purple shimmer.  I don’t know why my application looks so bad because the formula is perfect.  I will admit, this one looks better on than in the bottle because I didn’t think I would like it.  It’s like wearing 2 colors in one.  2 coats.

OPI Wocka Wocka

OPI Wocka Wocka

Wocka Wocka!:  Berry red frost..very Tiki Punch-like but with a much better formula.  This could have easily been a 1-coater but I wanted to be on the safe side.  2 coats.

OPI Animalistic

OPI Animalistic

Animal-listic:  Bright jelly coral with micro shimmer.  OPI has done a variation of this color in many of their collections this year.  Maybe I’m hanging with the wrong crowd because these aren’t very popular amongst my friends or ladies I see around town.  2 coats.

OPI Meep Meep Meep

OPI Meep Meep Meep

Meep-Meep-Meep:  Very similar to “Wocka Wocka” but with a jelly texture and pink micro shimmer.  I could have done without this one.  2 coats.

This was my first time trying a tribal nail art design, next time I’ll be adding more colors and playing around with some patterns.  Ohh the things a nail art stripper can do.

OPI celebrates color with the Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Inspired by the country’s range of stunning shades – as seen in vivid tulips, windmill-dotted hillsides and bustling canals – the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of sophisticated neutrals and highly-pigmented brights.

“Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral and orange hues that capture this energy. The bright lacquers are married with neutrals in new variations like red clay and sea green.”

A sequence of electric brights, including a sun-lit orange (A Roll in The Hague), a hot coral-red (Red Lights Ahead…Where?) and two perfectly pretty pinks (Kiss Me on My Tulips and a light-catching Pedal Faster Suzi!) complement their cooler counterparts in hues of glistening purple (Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? and Vampsterdam), while elegant neutrals (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Did You ear About Van Gogh? and Wooden Shoe Like to Know?) meet two shimmer-laced blues (I Have a Herring Problem and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!) and a creamy sea green (Thanks a WindMillion).

“Wearing these colors on fingers and toes will accessorize the season’s hottest trends,” remarks Suzi. “The varied palette of colors accentuates the looks that walked the runway, from colored pants and ladylike frocks to long, blousy-sleeved tops and dramatic patterns.”

Holland by OPI includes the following shades:

OPI announces the launch of six new limited edition shades inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj, including a purple Shatter!  Inspired by Minaj’s unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.

OPI is so excited to work with Nicki in releasing these six new nail lacquers,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Nicki has taken the hip hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair color both on and off the stage.”

Nicki’s eclectic look made including a new hue in OPI’s bestselling Shatter coat a must for this collaboration. The purple Super Bass Shatter (a record-setting purple that “shatters” before your eyes) is inspired by graffiti art and works when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Super Bass Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.

The line features five nail lacquers in addition to Super Bass Shatter, ranging from fantastic pink, rainbow confetti glitter and charcoal sparkle hues to two green shades in lime and teal:

“Did It On ‘Em” A lusty little lacquer that loves the “lime”-light.

"Pink Friday" Kick off the weekend with this pop! of bubblegum pink.

"Metallic 4 Life" This charcoal sparkle flies with the stars in the skies.

"Save Me" I drove for miles just to find this silver-rainbow glitter.

"Fly" I came to win, to fight…and to wear this aqua.

"Did It On ‘Em" A lusty little lacquer that loves the “lime”-light.

Nicki Minaj by OPI nail lacquers contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application. This limited edition promotion will be available beginning January 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for  $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

DS Temptation is a stunner! The bottle makes it appear like a royal purple glitter but its’ so much more; it’s a cool blurple jelly base filled with deep purple glitter and hint of turquoise, pink, and green. I did find it to be a little thick but I applied 3 coats without any issues. And yes...you NEED this color.

OPI DS Temptation

DS Bold is a bit more complicated. At first glance it looks like a rose pink glitter but once applied takes on something completely different. It’s a deep coral pink jelly (odd I know but trust me, when you wear it, it’ll all make sense) filled with rose pink and silver glitter but it looks almost like a rose gold glitter. I know I sound like I’m rambling, but like I said this is a more complicated color. I’m still on the fence about this one; it looks great but it isn’t flattering on me, I’m thinking I’ll layer it with a foil pink base color. The texture was the same as DS Temptation and I used 3 coats.

OPI DS Bold

Released September 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $12.50 ($15.95 CAN) suggested retail for each color.
