Last month when Rooney Mara mentioned that she wears Agatha Blois Carnival Wax Perfume Oil, Black Amber, in Allure Magazine I nearly flipped over my chair to read a few reviews and place my order. The fragrance blends are anything but typical and ordinary. They have a very deep dark array of fragrances. If you love wearing fragrances that people aren’t familiar with and can’t detect, Carnival Wax Perfume Oils are a great way to go. I selected a 3-pack sample bundle of:
Sugarwitch – Which is described as “juicy lemon and tangerines, sugarpie and wildwoods”. It came off as a lemony sugar cookie on me. Like something out of BBW. The wood notes played a back small role and were hardly noticeable.
Tea Flower – Which is described as “fresh grapefruit with orange blossoms, essence of green tea, warmed with vanilla and Chinese cinnamon”. I love this fragrance and you can smell everything described. It’s very sweet & clean but with a hint of spice because of the cinnamon, but it isn’t overpowering. I’ll most likely save this one for Spring.
Dreabilly – Which is described as “smoke and dried wood, sugar and orange blossoms”. Another one I loved. Initially I couldn’t make heads or tails of this fragrance because it smelled like a pirate (or what I envision as a pirate) eating a sugar cookie. The more I thought about it, it was like sugary incense.
Overall I love the fragrances and get 4-6 hours of wear. I did have some issues with my order but would order again in the future. I was taken aback by Carnival Wax charging $5 for packaging & shipping, and an additional $2 for handling. I’m all for companies marking up because they are in business to make a profit, but $7 for 3 samples that weigh little or nothing is a bit much. I also don’t like paying handling…this should be included in shipping cost. After all, no matter what you have to handle all orders. Nonetheless, I bit the bullet and continued with my order. I received my shipping confirmation and tracking number 3 days after my order was placed, which was reserved by shipper but no details for the tracking information. It was shipped priority mail and should have taken a few days max for my order to arrive since we’re really close in distance but it took a lot longer than expected. It was so bad I contacted the company to cancel the order. I got a response a couple days later (I already received my order at that time) explaining how the delay was due to the holiday and USPS sending her materials late. It took a full 10 business days to receive my order. The policy does state 7-10 business days because orders are hand-poured. What caused the issue was sending tracking information stating that it was shipped when it was not.
