Now that we’ve worn ourselves out on the crackle polish trend we can hop on the flake effect train. I love flakies and the color combinations are endless. This is a trend that’s here to stay!
Exclusive to Sally’s Beauty Supply, Finger Paints has released their 5-color Special Effects Collection, consisting of Flecked, Motley, Flashy, Twisted, and Asylum. Several companies have recently released their own versions of flakies and they’re still more to come…but Finger Paints was the one to grab hold of my credit card because I didn’t have to order online and they’re probably going to be the least expensive option among the other brands. A couple months ago I considered purchasing the Nails Inc. version but at $20 a set (because it includes solid colors that I already have plenty of dupes of) I couldn’t justify it. It’s always a matter of time before another brand creates very similar shades but at a more affordable price.
I didn’t have any issues with the Finger Paint formulas. My only regret was that I only did 1 coat instead of 2 because it would have really made it pop.
Start calling Sally’s locations now because I’m sure they’ll be gone before we know it. At $5.49 each how could anyone resist?

Flashy – orange, yellow, green
Flecked – mostly green with hints of blue
Twisted – blue, purple, green, and orange
Motley – purple, green, and hints of blue
Asylum – blue, purple, and red

What are the best base and topcoats? I just started doing my own more often than nail salons
As of today I’m hooked on Poshe Top and Base Coat and Nubar Foundation and Diamont Base Coat. I have a blog post on others as well.
