This Fall, China Glaze has captured the big city feel in 12 sexy, sophisticated shades that are on trend, exciting and will be on every fashion maven’s “must have” list. Whether you prefer downtown funk or uptown class, China Glaze’s METRO collection pulls together ensembles and will undoubtedly make heads turn!
Brownstone – Deep warm orange-red with brown tones crème. It reminds me of Zoya “Cola” or American Apparel “Pinto”
CG in the City – Sheer purple base with dusty purple and gray glitter. This will make a great topper over a dark color but alone it just doesn’t translate well. It almost looks like really pretty dirt or dust on my nails.
City Siren – Crème red with berry tones.
Concrete Catwalk – Crème neutral mid-tone gray. I love a good gray and this is my all time favorite gray. I’m hooked and will probably be wearing it the most out of the entire collection.
Loft-y Ambitions – Maroon with faint pearl shimmer. In the bottle this color leaves little to be desired, but once on the nails…honey….it is stunning, for girls that love burgundy without it looking so flat.
Sky Scraper – Blue jelly base with denim blue and silver glitter. This color is beautiful, no doubt about it. But the formula was a bit of a diva. It was so thick it was dragging during the application. A tiny amount of thinner should correct this but I’ve never had this issue with China Glaze.
Street Chic – Crème pale brown. This will make a great everyday color. I wouldn’t be surprised if China Glaze made this a core color.
Traffic Jam – Crème raspberry pink. Perfect pink for fall.
Trendsetter – Gold glass-flecked mustard-toned yellow pea green. I love ugly murky colors but for those of you that don’t, you won’t like this color at all.
Urban-Night – Crème dark violet with warm tones.
Westside Warrior – Crème camouflage green with a tinge of gray.
Midtown Magic – Gold glass-flecked shimmer burgundy. This color looks gorgeous in the bottle, but it didn’t do much for my nails.
I’m really on the fence about this collection. It seems like its all over the place, but it could also be that it has something to offer everybody. It would be difficult to see the Metro Chic collection on display and not grab at least one color. A handful of these colors (aaaahhhem Brownstone, Concrete Catwalk, City Siren, and Westside Warrior) give me Zoya circa Fall 2010. Not the colors exactly but the combination of the colors n a collection. I used 2 coats for each swatch and for the most part the formulas were great as with most China Glaze colors. The only problematic color was Sky Scraper, yet I found it to be one of the best colors of the collection.
Side note: I’m not feeling this new camera, so back to the old one I go
